April 23 honors convocations to recognize students, faculty

Lincoln, Neb., April 13th, 2006 —

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will honor student scholars and outstanding faculty at two honors convocations April 23. Both will convene in the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St., and Chancellor Harvey Perlman will preside over the ceremonies.

The Rising Scholars Convocation at 1 p.m. honors High Scholars, including 4.0 High Scholars who are freshmen and sophomores. The 4.0 High Scholars are students who have earned all A's in their coursework at the University of Nebraska. High Scholars are students from all classes who have cumulative GPAs of at least 3.6 but less than 4.0.

The University Scholars Convocation at 4 p.m. will honor Chancellor's Scholars, Superior Scholars and 4.0 High Scholars who are juniors and non-graduating seniors. Chancellor's Scholars are graduating seniors who have attained 4.0 grade-point averages on all graded collegiate work at UNL and any other post-secondary educational institution they may have attended. Superior Scholars are graduating seniors who have attained a standing in the upper 3 percent of their college's senior class or have been on the honors convocation list each year since matriculating as freshmen.

Outstanding faculty and staff will also be honored at the convocations.

Information includes the student's honor in parenthesis (C is for Chancellor's Scholar, S for Superior Scholar, H is for High Scholar), year in school and college of enrollment. An asterisk following a student's name indicates a 4.0 GPA.
