Sue Carkoski Tempero, '61, of Indianapolis, and Cindy Gottschalck, '06, of Omaha are the recipients of the Cather Circle Alumna of the Year and Collegian of the Year awards from the Nebraska Alumni Association.

The awards were announced at the spring meeting of Cather Circle last month and will be presented at the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement, May 5 at the Nebraska Champions Club.

Tempero served as the top human resources executive at major Indianapolis and Des Moines newspapers before retiring in 2000. She is a consultant on human resources, diversity and management. Among her many civic and volunteer activities, Tempero served as chair of the Nebraska Alumni Association's Cather Circle from 2001-2003, and was an early champion of the group's potential. She was one of the pioneer members of Cather Circle in 1999 and has given countless hours to the organization as a member of the executive and strategic planning committees.

Gottschalck is a senior marketing major from Omaha. She has been a member of Cather Circle since 2004, and has been involved with student recruitment and selection. She served as the Cather Circle intern and played an important role in coordinating the details of the group's bi-annual meetings. In addition to Cather Circle, Gottschalck has served as the president of the official university ring committee, homecoming coordinator for the ASUN student government, and president of the American Marketing Association. She will graduate in December.
