College of Business Administration honors student scholars

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration honored its top students from the 2005-06 academic year in an awards ceremony April 21 at the Nebraska Union.

The Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key is granted to the student graduating in May with the highest grade-point average in the college. This year's winner is Bronson Reid Schliep of Fairfield. Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities, to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice. The Alpha Delta chapter at UNL was formed in May 1924 and has had more than 2,000 members since its inception.

James E. LeRossignol Certificates were presented to the top 65 seniors in honor of the first dean of the College of Business Administration. He served from 1913 to 1941 and his 28 years of leadership established the reputation and academic quality of the college.

Clifford M. Hicks Honor Keys were awarded to 16 juniors who achieved high academic standing in their first two years at UNL. The award is named for Professor Clifford M. Hicks, who served on the College of Business Administration faculty for 43 years, and who was chair of the Department of Business Organization and Management from 1950 until his retirement in 1968.

William Gold Scholarship Keys were first awarded in 1925 by William Gold, founder of Gold & Co. These keys have been awarded for 79 years to students having the highest academic standing in their freshman year. Thirteen Gold Scholarship Keys were awarded this year.
