At the American Statistical Association's Presidential Awards ceremony on Aug. 8, Mario Callegaro a doctoral candidate in survey research and methodology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will be awarded the association's 2006 Edward C. Bryant Scholarship for Outstanding Graduate Student in Survey Statistics.

This is the association's highest award given to a graduate student, and only one is awarded each year. Previous winners have come from America's elite universities and top statistics programs.

The American Statistical Association is America's second oldest scientific society, founded 1839, and has more than 20,000 members. Callegaro's education has been supported with help from the Gallup Organization, through UNL's first private-sector partnership with Gallup Research Center.
