Moon, Jupiter, summer sky at Student Observatory Aug. 4

Weather permitting, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Student Observatory's next first Friday free summer public night will be 8:30 to 11 p.m. Aug. 4.
The observatory on the roof of the Stadium Drive Parking Garage, 10th and T streets, will be open for viewing of Jupiter, the moon and other attractions of the summer sky. It will be possible to view the moon and Jupiter through the 16-inch diameter telescope of the Student Observatory and other smaller telescopes.
There is no charge for admission to the public night and children of all ages are welcome. There will be astronomers on hand to answer questions and telescopes will be available for children to use.
The observatory will not be open if it is mostly cloudy. If in doubt about the weather, call the observatory at (402) 472-4728.
