Three University of Nebraska-Lincoln geologists were among 40 scholars worldwide elected fellows of the Geological Society of America this year. A member of the Geological Society of America is elected to fellowship in recognition of significant contributions to the science of geology.

The new fellows from UNL are:

Duane A. Eversoll, professor in the Survey Division of the School of Natural Resources

F. Edwin "Ed" Harvey, associate professor and research hydrogeologist in the School of Natural Resources

Vitaly Zlotnik, professor of hydrogeology in the department of Geosciences

Eversoll, who has been at UNL since 1974, was honored for his leadership in the society, particularly in the engineering geology division, and for his sustained contributions to both the profession and the public.

Harvey was elected for his insightful study of the hydrogeology and hydrochemistry of regional aquifers. His work supports understanding of groundwater resources and surface-water interactions within the context of climate change.

Zlotnik was honored for making fundamental contributions to understanding the hydraulics of subsurface fluid flow and well hydraulics.
