Free food, children's games, an exhibit of Nebraska photography and a spot on the homecoming parade route are all part of the festivities when the Nebraska Alumni Association hosts its 14th annual "Come On Home" celebration 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R St. The event is free and open to the public.
The evening kicks off with the reinstated homecoming parade at 6 p.m. Guests can view the parade from the center's Holling Garden.
The remainder of the evening will feature family-friendly activities, including performances by the Big Red Express pep band and Husker spirit squad, children's games, prizes, a clown, an appearance by the 2006 homecoming royalty court and a performance by the Scarlet and Cream Singers. Guests can enjoy ice cream from the UNL Dairy Store, Pepsi products and Valentino's pizza, all free of charge.
Nebraska photos, taken by UNL graduate Matt Cranford for the 2007 Alumni wall calendar, will also be on display. The calendars, to be mailed Nov. 1 to dues-paying members of the Nebraska Alumni Association, will be available for purchase, as will the photography.
Throughout the evening, guests will be able to vote online for their favorite campus homecoming display. Alumni can also vote online at www.homecoming.huskeralum.com beginning at 3 p.m. Nov. 3. The display receiving the most votes will received the association's Homecoming Herbie Award.
