Sheldon Gallery schedules free college nights for spring semester

Lincoln, Neb., December 6th, 2006 —

The Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln welcomes all students and faculty to its first series of College Class Nights, beginning in the spring semester. Sheldon will be open at no charge one night each month for individual students, class groups and instructors.

This is the first time Sheldon has offered a night schedule specifically for college students. Classes and students from all universities and colleges in the region are welcome.

Sheldon's permanent collection and special exhibitions will be available for guided tours or informal visits. Snacks and beverages will be offered. Hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Guided class or group tours must be scheduled two weeks in advance by calling (402) 472-4524. No appointment is necessary for instructor-led tours.

The Spring College Class Night schedule and the exhibitions that will be on view on those dates are:

Monday, Jan. 22: "American Art, 19th Century to Present"; "The Architect's Brother"; "Collage Aesthetic, Expressing Identity: American Prints Since 1980."

Tuesday, Feb. 13: "American Art, 19th Century to Present"; "The Architect's Brother"; "Comic Art from the Permanent Collection."

Wednesday, March 7: "American Art, 19th Century to Present"; "The Architect's Brother"; "Comic Art from the Permanent Collection"; "Chris Ware."

Thursday. April 5: "American Art, 19th Century to Present"; "Comic Art from the Permanent Collection"; "Chris Ware."
