UNL Campus Rec sponsoring free interactive festival Jan. 19-20

Lincoln, Neb., January 12th, 2007 —

Get out of the cold and join thousands of UNL students, campus and community supporters as they check out the latest products, fashions, technology, services, sounds and tastes from local and national companies at an event called "Get Rec'd" Jan. 19 and 20. The two-day event is at Campus Recreation Center, in the heart of University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 14th and Vine streets.

Hosted by UNL Campus Recreation, admission to the two-day interactive festival is free and all are welcome. Attendees will haul away free gifts, sample some cuisine, and enjoy non-stop entertainment.

UNL Campus Recreation has one of the largest and finest collegiate recreation programs in the United States, and is recognized nationally for program quality and innovation. The facility serves more than 25,000 annual memberships held by students, faculty and staff, and community residents.

Event times are: Jan. 19: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Jan. 20: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call (402) 472-3467. More than 50 exhibitors -- recruiters, vendors, retailers, potential employers and other organizations focusing on the young adult market -- are scheduled to attend, as will other donors and sponsors. Partnering sponsors are Apple, Papa John's, Art FX Screenprinting and Embroidery, Pepsi, Chipotle, Planet Sub, Days Inn and UNL University Bookstore.

Schedule of special events:

Friday, Jan. 19: University Bookstore Fashion Show, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; NU football legend and Heisman Trophy-winner Johnny Rodgers, 1-3 p.m.; cycling class, 1-1:30 p.m.; Rikki Wallace break-dancing, 3-3:30 p.m.; Kenpo break dance competition, 3:30-4 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 20: Performance by UNL a capella group Bathtub Dogs, noon to 1 p.m.; the Get Rec'd Kickball Tournament, sponsored by 102.7 KFRX, 1-4 p.m.; performance by vocalist Ember Schrag, 1-1:30 p.m.; demonstration by Tae Kwan Do Sport Club, 1:30-2 p.m.; performance by Robert Gray (Yo Yo), 3-3:30 p.m.
