Lincoln, Neb., January 26th, 2007 —

Employment law is not always cut and dried, but it is important for managers to understand their employees' rights and the rights of the organization in making difficult decisions.

Business owners and managers will have an opportunity to learn the latest information at the "Employment Law" two-part seminar presented Feb. 15 by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Management Business Seminars Program. The seminar is 9 a.m. to noon (Part 1) and 1 to 4 p.m. (Part 2) at the Peter Kiewit Lodge at Mahoney State Park, off Interstate 80 Exit 426.

Mark Fahleson, a practicing attorney and professor at University of Nebraska College of Law, will use actual, recent court cases to explain employment law in Nebraska and the nation covering aspects of the employment relationship, including claims of wrongful termination, wage and hour basics, EEO and unlawful harassment, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, workplace safety, OSHA and workers' compensation; managing employee leave, and unlawful retaliation.

Fahleson practiced management-side employment and labor law in Omaha before becoming legislative director to a member of the U.S. House of Representatives in November 1994, later becoming a congressional chief of staff in Washington, D.C., advising on all legislative initiatives with direct responsibility for all tax, health and labor issues. Fahleson is a partner with Rembolt Ludtke and Berger LLP in Lincoln, where his practice centers on management-side employment and labor law, employee benefits and workers' compensation defense.

The registration deadline for the seminar Feb. 8. To register or for details, call the Business Seminars Program at (402) 472-0860 or visit www.mds.unl.edu.
