Cornhusker Marching Band gives annual awards

Molly Boyd, a senior music and biological sciences major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, received the Nebraska Band Alumni Association's Outstanding Bandsman Award at the Cornhusker Marching Band's annual awards banquet Jan. 27.

The Outstanding Bandsman Award is presented to the single individual that has demonstrated the highest standards of attitude, musicianship, leadership, and service to the UNL band program. Boyd, who plays the alto saxophone, is the daughter of Kevin and Mariann Boyd of Gothenburg. She is a 2002 graduate of Gothenburg High School.

Other awards presented at the banquet were Band Key, Musicianship, Marching Red and Service awards.

Band Key awards are for superlative attendance, commendable demeanor, enthusiastic attitude, extensive contributions in musical and leadership service, and demonstration of the highest personal, musical and supportive behavior to the UNL band program.

Musicianship Awards are for superlative attendance, commendable demeanor, enthusiastic attitude and extensive contributions in musical leadership to the UNL band program.

Marching Red awards are for superlative attendance, commendable demeanor, enthusiastic attitude and extensive leadership contributions to the Cornhusker Marching Band.

Service awards are for superlative attendance, commendable demeanor, enthusiastic attitude and service contributions to the UNL band program.
