Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry interpreters to appear March 1

Lincoln, Neb., February 14th, 2007 —

University of Nebraska-Lincoln students and faculty will have an opportunity to "meet" Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry March 1 to hear about the birth of the United States.

Bill Barker and Richard Schumann, character interpreters from Colonial Williamsburg, Va., portray Jefferson and Henry. The two interpreters are more than actors, they are experts on the lives and events of these two leaders of revolutionary America. Jefferson is noted for his drafting of the Declaration of Independence, as well as his terms as the ambassador to France and as the second president of the United States. Patrick Henry was a three-time governor of Virginia and famous for his "Give me liberty or give me death" speech.

Their performance begins at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St. It is free and open to the public.
