Lincoln, Neb., February 28th, 2007 —

Successful managers, supervisors, and leaders in organizations achieve and maintain their positions through polished communication practices. The next Management Development Seminar presented by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Business Seminars Program will explain how those practices can be developed.

Technology and globalization continue to change how people communicate and relate with one another and it is important for managers to keep up with these new trends and ensure that good communication prevails, according to seminar leader Tom O'Connor, founding director of the E.J. Faulkner Writing and Speaking Laboratory at the UNL College of Business Administration.

The seminar, "Say what you Mean, Mean what you Say," will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 14 at Gallup University, 1001 Gallup Drive in Omaha. The registration deadline is March 7. To register or for details, contact the Business Seminars Program at (402) 472-0860 or business.seminars@unl.edu or visit www.mds.unl.edu.

In this interactive seminar, O'Connor will show managers:

* How communication skills contribute to personal and team success;
* Strategies for improving your ability to speak, write, and listen; and
* How to analyze communication behavior for strengths and weaknesses, enabling participants to take positive steps to improve their attitude and ability in the organization.

This seminar can count toward completion of a UNL Business Seminars Management Development Certificate. Information on the three levels of certificates offered is available by telephone and on the Web site. Participation in the certificate program is not a requirement to attend this seminar.
