First Outstanding International Alumnus Award to be presented at UNL

De "Dan" Hong, an attorney in Shanghai, China, and a 1993 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Law College graduate, is the winner of the Nebraska Alumni Association's inaugural Outstanding International Alumnus award. The award will be presented May 4 at the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement.
Hong is chief counsel for Shanghai operations of Hong Kong Novel Enterprises Ltd. and its subsidiaries. He also is affiliated with Shanghai Jin Mao PRC Lawyers, Shanghai's largest law firm. After graduation, Hong worked in New York City before joining Hong Kong Novel Enterprises in 1995. The company's subsidiaries include Tommy Hilfiger, Dragonair, Asprey & Carrard and other corporations. Also a graduate of the China University of Law in Beijing, Hong is a member of the China Law Society and Shanghai Bar Association. Ever the loyal Cornhusker, Hong recommends the University of Nebraska to many Asian students, has hosted the Nebraska governor's trade missions as well as NU faculty and administrators, and has introduced Chinese business executives to Nebraska businesses.
The Alumni Association's board of directors voted last fall to add the new honor for an alumnus who was a non-U.S. citizen during his/her attendance at UNL and who has achieved national or international prominence through efforts in education, sciences, technology, agriculture, the arts, business, humanities, government or other world endeavors.
Reservations for the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement may be made by calling the Nebraska Alumni Association, (888) 353-1874 or (402) 472-4250. The cost is $25 per person and the deadline for registrations is April 27.
