Shkolnick to receive Young Alumni Award

A former Nebraska Alumni Association executive who now heads the Colorado State Alumni Association will receive the Nebraska Alumni Association's Young Alumni Award at the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement at the Nebraska Champions Club May 4. The award is given annually to NU alumni who have provided exceptional service to the university through volunteer efforts or have distinguished themselves in their career or community.

Marc Shkolnick, 1990 and 1995 Teachers College graduate, is the executive director of the Colorado State Alumni Association in Fort Collins, Colo. He began his career at UNL as an admissions representative and in 1993 joined the Nebraska Alumni Association staff as director of alumni relations, coordinating the alumni chapter program. In 1999, Shkolnick was promoted to associate executive director; in this position he managed the alumni programming team, coordinated the membership/marketing program and initiated the sustaining life membership program. The Omaha native was named a Forman Fellow by the Council of Alumni Association Executives in 2001 and received a Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives in 2003. He has served on the District VI board of the Council for Advancement and Support for Education and has chaired CASE committees.
