UNL Phi Beta Lambda competitors place at national conference

Lincoln, Neb., July 31st, 2007 —

Student competitors from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln J.D. Edwards Honors Program in Computer Science and Management placed in the national conference of Phi Beta Lambda. The national event was June 23-26 at Chicago, and at it, J.D. Edwards student Mike Kistler of Grand Island was elected Mountain Plains Region Vice President.

Kistler placed first nationally at the competition in Accounting Analysis and Decision-making, and Ashley Guinan of Blair placed first in Java Programming. Tim Echtenkamp of Cairo placed second in Visual Basic Programming, and Charles Burns of York placed second in Accounting Principles.

Other top-10 placers from UNL J.D. Edwards Program were:

- Chris Reznicek of Blair, third in Business Communication and third in C++ Programming;

- Guinan, sixth in Business Communication;

- Kistler, fourth in Future Business Executive;

- Burns, eighth in International Business;

- Echtenkamp, ninth in Economic Analysis and Decision-making.

The J.D. Edwards students competed earlier in the year in the Phi Beta Lambda Nebraska Chapter competition, where Kistler was elected State Chapter President and placed first or second in nine competitions during the conference, including Market Analysis and Decision-making, Accounting for Professionals, Future Business Executive, Job Interview and Website Development.

The J.D. Edwards Honors Program in Computer Science and Management combines computer technology and business in an innovative curriculum and experience that brings top students from across the U.S. Graduates of the program are highly sought after, particularly because of their experience working with and finding solutions for today's business and industry leaders.
