740 receive degrees at Aug. 18 commencement exercises

Lincoln, Neb., August 18th, 2007 —

Approximately 740 students received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in commencement exercises today at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman presided at the ceremonies. Susan Sheridan, Willa Cather professor and professor of educational psychology at UNL, gave the address. Spalding, Neb., native Charles A. Brim, a noted agronomist and University of Nebraska alumnus, received an honorary doctor of science degree. Brim is professor emeritus of crop science at North Carolina State University.

The graduates are from 40 states, 35 countries and Puerto Rico.

Some graduates will receive degrees in programs offered on the UNL campus by the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. They are designated by UNMC or UNO in parentheses.
