Lincoln, Neb., August 20th, 2007 —

Back-to-campus time at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will bring thousands of students moving in to their residence halls in the span of a few days. Visitors and Lincoln residents should be aware of minor traffic delays in the City Campus vicinity because of closing of lanes and some congestion from move-in traffic.

UNL officials advise motorists that it may be wise to steer clear of campus during the week starting Aug. 20 as students move into their residence halls in preparation for the Aug. 27 start of classes. The majority of students will move into their halls from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 23 and 24. Most students living in the Courtyards at 17th and Vine streets and Village at 16th and Y streets, moved in last week.

Motorists traveling through campus will find closed driving lanes on 16th, 17th and Vine streets. Students and parents should plan for delays as parking near many residence halls is limited. Students and parents have been advised to use drop-off, move-in parking for 1 hour only near their assigned residence halls, and to visit the UNL Housing move-in Web site, www.unl.edu/housing/movein, for the latest information on assigned parking for each residence hall. The special move-in zones are limited to 1-hour parking; after that, vehicles are required to move to alternative parking locations.
