The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering and the student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers will host Women Interested in Engineering Day on Oct. 6. WIIE is for young women in grades 10-12 who are interested in math and science. Students and faculty will lead hands-on activities to introduce participants to various engineering disciplines.
This year's keynote speaker is Shelby Fuerst, a 2001 graduate who is an industrial engineer for UPS in Omaha.
To find out more and register for this free conference, go to www.engineering.unl.edu/events/wiie/. Registration is open through Sept. 28. Questions should be directed to Tony Baumgart, campus visits coordinator, at (402) 472-3060 or tbaumgart2@unl.edu.
The conference was established in 1998 to encourage young women to pursue careers in engineering.
