Manglitz, Perez crowned Homecoming king, queen

Seniors Joseph Manglitz of Lincoln and Riana Perez of Cheyenne, Wyo., were crowned Homecoming king and queen at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during a halftime ceremony at Saturday's Nebraska vs. Oklahoma State football game.

Manglitz is a music education major in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. A Regents Scholarship winner, he is enrolled in the UNL Honors Program, is a member of the Innocents Society, the chancellor's senior honorary, and was named an Outstanding Student Leader. He is also in Air Force ROTC and is a drum major in the Cornhusker Marching Band, in addition to working as an intern in the office of U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel (R.-Neb.). A member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, he is the son of Paul and Patti Manglitz of Lincoln.

Perez is a broadcasting major with minors in political science and English. Also a member of the Innocents Society, she won Aaron Douglas and Kinman Oldfield Foundation scholarships and received the Lenor Fitzsimmons Johnson Award. Her campus activities include serving as vice president of standards for Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, ASUN student government senator for the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, and diversity education chair for the University Program Council. Off-campus, she volunteers with Cerebral Palsy of Colorado and The Gathering Place. She is the daughter of Mike and Michele Perez of Cheyenne.
