The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center for Economic Education will sponsor the annual Economics Day for Students Nov. 7 on the UNL campus. The purpose of the day is to introduce high school students to the importance of understanding economics in the world today.
Economics teachers from high schools in Central and Southeast Nebraska have been invited to bring their classes to the Nebraska Union from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. to listen to presentations by UNL economics professors, and take part in an informal panel discussion with student ambassadors from the College of Business Administration. Lecture topics include, "The Economics Major," "Current issues in Macro, Micro and International Economics," and the "Economics Hot Topic: The Race Car Economics."
The approximately 140 students attending will include students from Bellevue, Doniphan, Firth, Lincoln, Norfolk and Omaha.
"There should be some interesting discussions, given the current economic impact of globalization, natural disasters, and war" said Tammie Fischer, director of the Center for Economic Education.
This annual event is hosted by the UNL Center for Economic Education in partnership with the UNL Department of Economics and the Nebraska Council on Economic Education.
