Award-winning Latina poet Maria Melendez to read at UNL

Poet Maria Melendez will read at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at 7:30 p.m., March 12 in 228 Andrews Hall, 14th Street south of U Street.
Melendez teaches creative writing and multicultural literature at Utah State University. Her poetry, fiction and essays have appeared in Barrow Street, International Quarterly, Isotope and Ecological Restoration. A collection of her poetry, "How Long She'll Last in this World," was published in 2006 by the University of Arizona Press. The collection was awarded honorable mention at the 2007 International Latino Book Awards, and was named a finalist for the 2007 Pen Center USA Literary Awards.
