Musical performances, film are highlights of Japan Festival March 6

Lincoln, Neb., Feb. 28, 2008 -- , February 28th, 2008 —

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host a Japan Festival 3-9 p.m. March 6 in the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St. Admission to all events is free and open to the public. The festival is sponsored by UNL's Japanese program and the Consulate General of Japan-Chicago.

Following is a schedule of events.

3:30-5 p.m. -- Calligraphy workshop, by Mutsumi Matsubara, Heritage Room.

6 p.m. -- Koto performance (Japanese stringed instrument), by Kimiko Kitagawa, Auditorium.

6:30 p.m. -- Taiko performance (Japanese drums), by Kokyo Taiko, auditorium

7 p.m. -- Screening of Japanese film "Hula Girls," auditorium.
