Modern Languages fair March 13 features competitions, classes

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Modern Languages and Literatures will host its 32nd annual Language Fair 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 13 at the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St.

The language fair provides an opportunity for high school students from across the state studying French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish to demonstrate their acquisition of language and culture in various competitions. Events are judged by faculty and graduate students in Modern Languages and Literatures. In addition, mini-lessons are offered throughout the day by departmental personnel in a variety of languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Japanese, Russian and Swahili. Organizers said they expect approximately 750 high school students and teachers to attend.
