Before getting too far along on spring yard work and planting, it might be a good idea to get some tips from the panelists for NET Television's "Backyard Farmer" program.
An opportunity to do so is at 7 p.m. April 15 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's C.Y. Thompson Library on East Campus' Arbor Drive, where panelist will give tips and answer questions from audience members about plants, bugs, lawns and other topics on gardening.
The event is free and open to the public and free parking is available in the lots east of the Biochemistry Building and C.Y. Thompson Library.
Backyard Farmer panelists who will be present at this non-televised event include:
* Fred Baxendale, professor of entomology;
* Jeff Culbertson, manager, Facilities Management and Planning's Landscape Services, or Sarah Browning, associate extension educator;
* Roch Gaussoin, professor of agronomy and horticulture;
* Loren Giesler, associate professor of plant pathology; and
* Kim Todd, assistant professor of agronomy and horticulture, and host of "Backyard Farmer."
"Backyard Farmer" is produced by UNL Extension in cooperation with the Nebraska Educational Telecommunication Commission. "Backyard Farmer" has been helping gardeners for more than 50 years. This event is sponsored by UNL Libraries in celebration of National Library Week and in conjunction with the Nebraska Colloquium.
