Anti-Semitism expert to speak April 13 at UNL

Alvin H. Rosenfeld, a Jewish Studies scholar and expert on anti-Semitism, will speak at 7 p.m. April 13 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Great Plains Art Gallery, 1155 Q St. His lecture is "Anti-Semitism: The Intellectual Assault Against the Jews and the Jewish State." The event is sponsored by the Norman and Bernice Harris Center for Judaic Studies, and is free and open to the public.

Rosenfeld is director of the Institute of Jewish Culture and the Arts and a professor of Jewish Studies and English at Indiana University in Bloomington. He is editor of "William Blake: Essays," "Collected Poetry of John Wheelwright," and "Confronting the Holocaust: The Impact of Elie Wiesel," and is the author of numerous scholarly and critical articles on American poetry, Jewish writers and the literature of the Holocaust. His book credits include "A Double Dying: Reflections on Holocaust Literature," and "Imagining Hitler." A new book, "The Writer Uprooted: Contemporary Jewish Exile Literature" is forthcoming. He is also editor of a series of books on Jewish literature and culture published by Indiana University Press.

Rosenfeld has served as a board member and scholarly consultant to various institutions and organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee, the Lilly Endowment, the Wexner Heritage Foundation and the Koret Foundation. He held a presidential appointment on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, serves on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum's executive committee, and is chair of the academic committee of the museum's Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies.
