Lynn Grasz and Sarah Haskell earn Cather honors

Lynn Grasz, '66, of New York City and Sarah Haskell, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln junior from Lincoln, are the recipients of the Cather Circle Alumna of the Year and Collegian of the Year awards respectively. The awards were announced at the spring meeting of Cather Circle, April 3-4 at the Wick Alumni Center, and will be presented at the All-University Celebration and Salute to Alumni Achievement, May 9 at the Nebraska Champions Club.

Grasz is president and CEO of Grasz Communications in New York City. The chair of the Cather Circle's marketing committee, Grasz has also served as chair of Cather Circle board and has been active with the group's executive, financial, program and recognition committees. She has offered numerous Cather Circle student members the opportunity to intern with her in New York during the summer. Grasz's firm was chosen by the International Quilt Study Center and Museum and she worked tirelessly to garner attention for the grand opening and for the center itself. A UNL Master in 1981 and Outstanding Advertising Alum in 2001, Grasz has done a number of projects with the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications. She is a former president of the NYC chapter of American Women in Radio and TV, and a member of the National Advertising Board and the National Broadcasting Society.

Haskell has been a member of Cather Circle since 2006 and serves on the executive committee. Since September 2006, she has worked as the Cather Circle-funded intern in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. Haskell is the recipient of the R. Parker and M. Eastwood Scholarship and the Canfield Scholarship from UNL. In addition to Cather Circle, she serves on the Student Alumni Association board of directors, is an advertising ambassador for the College of Journalism and Mass Communications and for the university, and is a member of Chi Omega sorority. Her activities also include a variety of volunteer and work experiences. Haskell is an advertising major with concentrations in English, communications and history. She plans to graduate in May 2009.
