Brandon Bryant of Omaha, a sophomore advertising major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Omaha Federation of Advertising.

"Brandon has a clear focus on his goals and is doing everything right to get to where he wants to go," said Amy Struthers, Ad Club adviser and sequence head of the advertising program in UNL's College of Journalism and Mass Communications. "He is always looking for opportunities, and his enthusiasm and energy set him apart from the crowd."

Bryant received the award based upon active participation in the campus Ad Club, maintaining a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 and attendance at the Omaha Federation of Advertising's "Meet the Pros 2008" educational seminar.

An active member in Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, Bryant also serves as a mentor in the journalism and mass communications learning community and has been selected as a New Student Enrollment leader for summer 2008. He traveled to Chicago in February with Ad Club to attend the American Advertising Federation's Mosaic Career Fair, and is a member of the Nebraska Book Promotional Street Team.

Up to eight $1,000 scholarships are available to students at UNL, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, University of Nebraska at Kearney and Creighton University. The Omaha Federation of Advertising supports area college students pursuing careers in advertising, marketing and communications. OFA is the students' link to the business world and offers members networking opportunities, seminars on the latest trends in technology, creativity and marketing and monthly luncheon events featuring leaders in the advertising field.
