Student government leaders, senators announced for 2008-09

Lincoln, Neb., May 23rd, 2008 —

University of Nebraska-Lincoln students were elected to one-year terms in the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska student government in student-body elections in March.

ASUN includes three executives (president, and first and second vice presidents), the 35-member Senate, whose members are elected by college, the Committee for Fees Allocation, the Student Court, the Appointment Board, and other committees. The new representatives were sworn in at a ceremony April 2 and will serve until April 2009.

Emily Zimmer of Lincoln is the new president of ASUN and will serve one year as member of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. Katie Madsen of Stuart is external vice president and Trevor Nieveen of Firth is internal vice president. Ryan Hassebrook of Bellwood was elected speaker of the senate, and Cara Waldo of DeWitt is appointments secretary.
