Lincoln, Neb., October 28th, 2008 —

Bruce Weinstein, BusinessWeek Online's ethics columnist, better known as "The Ethics Guy," will present this year's Ethics Lecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 11. The lecture is free and open public at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St.

Weinstein is a professional ethicist. His interactive talks to businesses, schools, the military and a wide range of nonprofit organizations across the country show how living an ethical life makes people happier, healthier, and more prosperous -- but that the reason to do the right thing is simply because it's the right thing to do.

He appears as an ethics analyst regularly on the FOX Business Network and writes the column "Ask the Ethics Guy," for BusinessWeek.com. Weinstein has also appeared on NBC's "Today Show," ABC's "Good Morning America," CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," MSNBC's "Live," FOX News Channel's "O'Reilly Factor," CNBC's "Capital Report," Bloomberg Television's "Personal Finance," and NPR's "Leonard Lopate Show."

Weinstein is the author or editor of five books on ethics. His latest book is "Life Principles: Feeling Good by Doing Good" (Emmis Books). He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy at Swarthmore College, and a Ph.D. in philosophy and bioethics at Georgetown University.

The Ethics Lecture is part of the UNL College of Business Administration's Business Ethics Program, which focuses on integrating ethics into the existing business curriculum. The program supports ethics curriculum and material development, as well as the discussion of ethical issues among students, faculty and the business community. A recent addition is the use of Ethics Game, which provides computer simulations of realistic ethical dilemmas. Other activities include speakers, curriculum development grants, discussion groups, seminars, an ethics resource center and community outreach. The program was founded in 1998 and continues to be funded through the generous support of James Stuart Sr.
