9 to receive military commissions in Dec. 20 ceremony

Lincoln, Neb., December 17th, 2008 —

Nine students who have completed the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are scheduled to receive commissions in the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force Dec. 20.

Following UNL undergraduate commencement exercises, a joint commissioning ceremony involving the service branches will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St.

Following is a list of candidates by hometown, with their service branch and rank at which they will be commissioned. All are UNL students unless otherwise noted.

NEBRASKA

Alliance: 2nd Lt. Joshua James Johnson, Marines.

Bloomfield: 2nd Lt. Andrew James Lingenfelter, Air Force.

Chadron: 2nd Lt. Peter Nels Johnson, Army.

Lincoln: 2nd Lt. Haidar Hamoud (Nebraska Wesleyan University), Army; 2nd Lt. Jesse Robert Humpal, Air Force.

West Point: 2nd Lt. Ted Joseph McDevitt, Air Force.

ELSEWHERE

Oacoma, S.D.: 2nd Lt. Kalen Lee Knippling, Air Force.

Pensacola, Fla.: Ensign Patrick Daniel Hynes, Navy.

Rolla, Mo.: Chase Tyler Ludden, Army.
