Phi Beta Kappa initiates 16 new members at UNL

Lincoln, Neb., December 19th, 2008 —

Sixteen University of Nebraska-Lincoln students were initiated Dec. 8 into membership in Phi Beta Kappa.

Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest academic honor society, recognizing and encouraging a commitment to excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. The students who received Phi Beta Kappa keys are from the August and December graduating classes.

Following is a list by hometown of the new members with their majors and the names of their parents.

NEBRASKA

David City: Larry McElravy Jr., biochemistry and French, Larry McElravy Sr. and the late Karla McElravy-Magdalin.

Grand Island: Eric Frandsen, anthropology, Roger and Julie Frandsen.

Hooper: Candace Ross, English, Steve Ross of Stephenville, Texas, and Nicael Reinhardt of Manhattan, Kan.

LaVista: Nicole Johnson, French, Spanish and international studies, Troy and Lois Johnson.

Lincoln: Lindsey Fairchild, speech-language pathology, Ken and Pam Fairchild; Brent Schmoker, biological sciences, Barry and Nancy Schmoker.

Omaha: Daniel Richard Larsen, history, Spanish and international studies, Douglas and Jean Larsen; Collin Paschall, political science and international studies, Raymond and Charlene Paschall; Brooke Stevens, theatre design and English, Ken and Ronda Stevens; Jill Marie Westcott, mathematics, Dr. Michael and Dr. Susan Westcott.

Papillion: Katherine Chelsea Anderson, English, James and Robin Anderson.

Tekamah: Margaret Goll, history and English, Charles and Nora Goll.
