Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will reopen with its normal hours Jan. 6. The museum was closed over the weekend after vandals damaged four panes of glass in the Great Hall's east wall. No artwork was damaged.
All visitors will enter through the west doors and a portion of the Great Hall will be cordoned off. The damaged glass panes will be replaced as soon as possible.
In addition to works from the Museum's permanent collection, three special exhibitions are currently on view: "TRANSactions: Contemporary Latin American and Latino Art," "Portraits and Personalities: Prints from the F.M. Hall Collection" and "New Acquisitions: African-American Masters Collection."
Sheldon Museum of Art, 12th and R streets on UNL City Campus, is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For information or to arrange a tour, call (402) 472-2461.
