Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln presents "Exposures of Landscape and Life: Photographs from the Permanent Collection" now through May 17.

The exhibition includes photographs by artists who through their work and teachings have influenced the three contemporary photographers -- Arno Minkkinen, Hans Eijkelboom and Edward Burtynsky -- whose artworks are on view in the museum's current exhibition, "Evolving Eden: Three Photographic Perspectives."

Artists with works on view in "Exposures of Landscape and Life" include: Margaret Bourke-White, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Robert Adams, Frank Gohlke, Lewis Baltz, Emmet Gowin, Richard Misrach, Ed Ruscha, Lorna Simpson, Aaron Siskind, Cindy Sherman, Robert Mapplethorpe and Tseng Kwong Chi.

The Sheldon's photography exhibitions this month are part of Lincoln PhotoFest, a communitywide celebration of photography at 20 galleries and museums across the city. Exhibitions on view in PhotoFest range from contemporary, cutting-edge works by local and national photographers to historical retrospectives. For a complete listing of participating PhotoFest venues and descriptions of their exhibitions, visit www.sheldon.unl.edu. Admission to PhotoFest exhibitions is free.

Major support for "Evolving Eden" comes from UNL, Herb and Kathy Friedman and the Wake Charitable Fund. Additional support is provided by the Nebraska Arts Council and Sheldon Art Association. Lincoln PhotoFest and the Photography Symposium held at Sheldon on Feb. 7 are sponsored by Assurity Life Insurance Co.
