"Temporality," the 2009 exhibit at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Kruger Gallery, will open March 30.
The exhibit highlights aspects of time as it relates to design, historic interiors and miniature making. A portion of the exhibit includes designs by the winners of the third-year interior design studio project titled "Temporality: Historic Furniture/Modern Space." Using a selection of Kruger Collection pieces and a roombox shell, students connected the relationship between the historic furniture and the modern space that they defined. The competition winners were Anne Brown, Corie Grant-Leanna, Amber Gustafson and Sarah Tracey, all of Omaha. The exhibition is on view through March 12, 2010.
An opening reception is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. March 30, followed by a noon lecture, "Informed Project Delivery," by Cary Johnson, senior associate with Gensler, the global architecture, design, planning and consulting firm. Volume 9 of In.Form, a journal of architecture, design and material culture, will be available for purchase. In.Form is a student-edited, peer-reviewed journal co-sponsored by the Kruger Collection and the UNL College of Architecture.
The reception and lecture will be in 202 Architecture Hall, 10th and R streets. Both events are free and open to the public. For more information, or to schedule an exhibition tour, contact DiAnna Hemsath, curator, at 402-472-3560 or by e-mail.
The Kruger Collection was founded in 1997 with the donation of Eloise Kruger's 20,000-piece collection of 1 to 12 scale miniatures. The Kruger Gallery is on the first floor of Architecture Hall-West. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday or by appointment. The collection is closed university holidays. For more information, visit http://krugercollection.unl.edu.
