The Northwest Broadcast News Association has honored the NewsNetNebraska.org Web site with the 2008 Award of Merit.

NewsNetNebraska, produced by students in University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, was honored in the Student Web site category. The Northwest Broadcast News Association is an organization of radio and television journalists working in the six-state upper Midwest region including Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The Association's aim is to serve and improve the broadcast industry through educational and professional programs.

UNL students take turns serving as reporters, photographers, videographers, podcasters and editors as they produce news content for the Web page (www.newsnetnebraska.org). NewsNetNebraska.org news content includes streaming video, photographs, graphics, podcasts and text.

Each school year, roughly 70 students produce content for NewsNetNebraska.org. The Web site class is a capstone course requirement for all news majors.
