The Bureau of Sociological Research and the Survey, Statistics, and Psychometrics Core Facility, and Nebraska Evaluation and Research Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host the first Data, Donuts, Survey and Solutions summer session May 22 at UNL.
"Data & Donuts" was instituted in December to help UNL faculty, nonprofit and state agency researchers brainstorm ideas for designing, collecting, analyzing and funding research projects. The event's success spurred additional drop-in research help sessions throughout the spring semester in which staff were available to answer questions or to suggest resources to help the attendees facilitate their research from start to finish or stages in between.
Academic, state and nonprofit researchers are invited to the free, drop-in summer session 10 a.m. to noon May 22 in Room 104 Benton Hall. Benton Hall is in the northeast corner of Selleck Quadrangle, 15th Street between S and U streets. The event is open to anyone looking to develop a research project. Refreshments (donuts and coffee) will be provided.
The Bureau of Sociological Research was established in 1964 as the research division of the UNL Department of Sociology. The bureau works with UNL investigators on the design, implementation and completion of survey research projects and also provides research services for state, government and local organizations outside of the university. It has conducted national, regional and local surveys using a variety of survey research methods to collect high-quality data that has been used for program evaluations, budgeting justifications and planning purposes. The Survey, Statistics and Psychometrics Core Facility was developed to promote and enhance the quality of social and behavioral science research at the University of Nebraska. The facility provides consultation, referrals, and workshops on survey research, statistical, and psychometric applications to support research initiatives. It is designed to work across disciplinary and institutional boundaries to help identify, support, and promote interdisciplinary research collaborations among faculty at University of Nebraska institutions. The Nebraska Evaluation and Research Center provides training and consulting on statistical, measurement, and research methodologies. A program of the UNL College of Education and Human Sciences, the center works with university faculty and graduate students as well as business and industry, government organizations, and group and individual researchers.
