The Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will partner with the Lincoln Northeast Family Center's Academy of Rock to present a student rock concert as part of Sheldon's Tuesday evening programming. The concert is 5-8 p.m. Aug. 4 and will be in Sheldon's Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium. The concert will feature local bands from the Academy of Rock and is free and open to the public.

The Academy of Rock is an intensive music program for students in kindergarten through 12th grades designed to teach kids how to rock. It was established by the Northeast Family Center as a powerful tool for engaging young people in a positive and creative atmosphere, empowering them to explore their musical interests, build self-esteem and learn teamwork, regardless of their background, heritage or income. With the guidance of local professional instructors, students are taught the skills needed to play and perform live at concert events around the area.

The bands that will be performing are:

* CGS MW Core Program
* FM Party
* Counterfeit
* Johnny #5 and The Water Cannon
* Third World War
