The Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites photographers to share their images of changing landscapes in conjunction with the exhibition, "Altered Land, Photography in the 1970s," on view Aug. 7 through Jan. 3. Images that are accepted will be displayed in a slide show in the "Altered Land" exhibition gallery.
Photographers may submit images in three categories:
Re-creation: A photograph or photographs that recreates an image from a newspaper archive or your personal archive taken from the same perspective. The photograph should show change in the landscape. Both the new photo and the landscape image that inspired it should be submitted.
Green: A photograph or photographs that display human effects on the environment. These images should be of a landscape that has deteriorated or has been made more environmentally friendly.
Altered: A landscape photograph or photographs that has mixed media. Submitted entries should have been altered through computer software or through other means.
Photographers are encouraged to submit short descriptions about how an image shows an altered landscape. To participate, join Sheldon's Flickr group, Altered Land, at www.flickr.com to upload no more than six photos per person. For more information about "Altered Land" and about this photo sharing opportunity, visit the Sheldon Web site, www.sheldon.unl.edu.
