Lincoln, Neb., August 25th, 2009 —

Football Fridays, a new series of events sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association, will bring together University of Nebraska alumni, fans, staff and former letter winners on Fridays before Husker football home games.

The Football Fridays series kicks off Sept. 4 at the Wick Alumni Center Holling Garden, 1520 R St., and is the only Friday pre-game celebration on campus. The event will feature a "Chalk Talk" segment with a former Nebraska football player. In addition, a panel of local media will preview the next day's Husker game and answer fans' questions about the team. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to win football tickets, Champions Club passes and Husker memorabilia.

All Football Fridays will be 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wick Center. Other dates are Sept. 11 and 25, Oct. 16 and 23 and Nov. 6 and 20.

Admission to Football Fridays is free. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

"The alumni association's goal with Football Fridays is to create a casual, fun atmosphere on campus where alumni and fans, staff and faculty, and former Huskers can share their excitement for the 2009 season," said Diane Mendenhall, executive director of the Nebraska Alumni Association. "We hope the Wick Alumni Center becomes a regular game-week stop for Husker supporters."

Featured guests Sept. 4 include former Huskers Matt Davison and Tommie Frazier, and reporters Brian Christopherson of the Lincoln Journal Star and Mitch Sherman of the Omaha World-Herald. Featured guests will change for each game and will be posted at www.huskeralum.org the Monday before home games.

The Nebraska Alumni Association was founded in 1874 and serves the Lincoln campus of the University of Nebraska to promote connections, school spirit and the advancement of the university.
