Lincoln, Neb., October 1st, 2009 —

The Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln welcomes all students and faculty to College Nights this semester. The first event 5-7 p.m. Oct. 5 will feature student docent tours of the recently opened "Agents of Change: Mexican Muralists and New Deal Artists" exhibition. Mexican appetizers will be offered and live music from several local artists will fill the museum's Great Hall.

This is the fourth year Sheldon has offered a night scheduled specifically for college students. Last winter scores of students, student organizations, classes and instructors enjoyed the refreshments, camaraderie and art. Classes and students from all universities and colleges in the region are welcome to these free events.

Sheldon's permanent collection and special exhibitions will be available for guided tours or informal visits. Guided class or group tours may be scheduled in advance by calling (402) 472-4524. No appointment is necessary for instructor-led tours.

In addition to "Agents of Change," the exhibitions that will be on view on College Nights are:

Monday, Oct. 5: "Subject(s) to Change: American Art from the Permanent Collection"; "Play's the Thing: The Paintings and Objects of Jun Kaneko"; "Altered Land, Photography from the 1970s"; and "Visionary Photography."

Thursday, Nov. 12: "Subject(s) to Change: American Art from the Permanent Collection"; "Altered Land, Photography from the 1970s"; "Visionary Photography"; and "Dan Christensen: Forty Years of Painting."
