The Center for Great Plains Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has announced the appointment of Kaitlin Ek as the editor of its literary and arts journal, "Plains Song Review."
Ek is a UNL junior English major from Colorado Springs, Colo. She will be assisted by an advisory board of UNL students who will help review and accept the submissions.
Plains Song Review has also issued its annual call for submissions from college students and members of Great Plains communities. The journal includes poetry, essays, short fiction, and black and white art or photography. Past issues have included interviews with well-known Nebraska writers and photographers such as Jonis Agee, Ted Kooser and Joel Sartore.
Ek has created a Facebook page for the journal and relaunched a blog to provide online opportunities for its readership and writers where anyone can discuss writing, ideas and events. That blog is at www.plainssongreview.blogspot.com.
Interested contributors to the journal should send a printed copy of their work with a file in Microsoft Word or rich text format. E-mail submissions will be accepted. Photographs and other illustrations should be sent as 300 dpi TIFF files on a CD along with printed copies of the images. All submissions must include a cover letter and short biographical note, plus complete address and contact information. Mail contributions to Kaitlin Ek, Plains Song Review, Center for Great Plains Studies, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, P.O. Box 880214, Lincoln, NE 68588-0214.
