Mueller Planetarium's 'Holiday Music Magic' starts Nov. 28

Mueller Planetarium at the University of Nebraska State Museum will begin showing "Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience," a new show featuring a variety of holiday music classics. It will be presented Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 3 p.m. Nov. 28-Jan. 10 at the planetarium in Morrill Hall south of 14th and Vine streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus.

In the past, Mueller Planetarium had a tradition of presenting holiday-themed laser light shows during the month of December. Although the laser is no longer in use, the planetarium will now give audiences a fun and entertaining fulldome experience set to the music of the holiday season. "Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience" contains songs from The Eurythmics, Mannheim Steamroller, Chuck Berry, Burl Ives, Brenda Lee and more. The festive soundtrack is visually enhanced with 3-D artistic animation and all-dome scenery in the domed theatre. This show was originally produced at Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City. It runs approximately 30 minutes.

For those who want an astronomy show, an introduction to the current night sky and the fulldome feature, "Touching the Universe," will be presented Saturdays at 1 p.m.

The planetarium schedule Nov. 28 through Jan. 10 will be:

* Thursdays: 7 p.m., "Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience."
* Saturdays: 1 p.m., "Touching the Universe"
* Saturdays and Sundays: 2 and 3 p.m., "Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience."

The NU State Museum and Mueller Planetarium will be closed Nov. 26, Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. Planetarium show times and schedules are subject to change. Prices are $8 for adults, $5.50 for children age 5-18, and $2.50 for children 4 and younger. For members of the Friends of NU State Museum with membership cards, tickets are $2.50 for adults and $2 for children. Tickets for UNL faculty, staff and students and immediate family are $3 (with valid UNL ID). Parking is free. Tickets are sold at the museum front desk the day of the show.

Museum admission only is $5 for adults (19 and over), $3 for children (5-18 years, 4 and under are free), and $10 for families (up to two adults and children). Admission is free for members of Friends of the Museum, and UNL faculty, staff and students with valid ID. The museum is open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday-Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursdays, and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sundays.
