UNL flag football team beats reigning national champs, wins regional

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln coed flag football team "D-UNIT" defeated the reigning national champions from the University of North Texas 15-0 Nov. 15 at UNL's Cook Pavilion to be crowned the co-rec team champion of the American Collegiate Intramural Sports Regional Flag Football Tournament.
As regional champion, D-UNIT receives a $1,000 travel stipend and free entry into the 31st-annual ACIS Flag Football National Championships Dec. 28-31 at the University of New Orleans.
This is the second-consecutive regional co-rec championship crown for D-UNIT. At the 2008 ACIS National Championships, the team advanced to the title game, where it lost to North Texas 16-10.
The players and hometowns for D-UNIT are Brittany Benson of Grand Island; Brandon Brown and Jenna Schulz of Lincoln; Rachel Choiniere of Blair; Katie DeMuth of Creighton; Kevin Dickens of Kansas City, Mo.; Cynthia Harris of El Cajon, Calif.; Alex Heiden of Aurora; Darrin Little of North Platte; Nate Probasco of Scribner; Robert Rands of Bellevue; and Arthur Wims of Fort Wayne, Ind.
