Additional 'Holiday Music Magic' shows at Mueller Planetarium Dec. 28-30

Mueller Planetarium at the University of Nebraska State Museum will have additional showings of "Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience" over the holidays. This new show featuring a variety of holiday music classics will be presented Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 3 p.m. through Jan. 10, with additional 2 p.m. showings Dec. 28, 29 and 30.

Mueller Planetarium is located in Morrill Hall south of 14th and Vine streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus.

The NU State Museum and Mueller Planetarium will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. The museum will be open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Dec. 31, with no planetarium show that evening.

"Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience" gives families a fun and entertaining fulldome experience set to the music of the holiday season. It features immersive 3-D artistic animation and all-dome scenery, with a festive soundtrack by The Eurythmics, Mannheim Steamroller, Chuck Berry, Burl Ives, Brenda Lee and more. This show was originally produced at Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City. It runs approximately 30 minutes.

For those who want an astronomy show, an introduction to the current night sky and the fulldome feature, "Touching the Universe," will be presented Saturdays at 1 p.m.

The planetarium schedule through Jan. 10 will be (No shows Dec. 24 and Dec. 31):

* Thursdays: 7 p.m., "Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience."
* Saturdays: 1 p.m., "Touching the Universe"
* Saturdays and Sundays: 2 and 3 p.m., "Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience."

Additional show times of "Holiday Music Magic: The Fulldome Experience" are:

* Monday, Dec. 28: 2 p.m.
* Tuesday, Dec. 29: 2 p.m.
* Wednesday, Dec. 30: 2 p.m.

Tickets to planetarium shows include admission to the museum. Prices are $8 for adults, $5.50 for children age 5-18, and $2.50 for children 4 and younger. For members of the Friends of NU State Museum with membership cards, tickets are $2.50 for adults and $2 for children. Tickets for UNL faculty, staff and students and immediate family are $3 (with valid UNL ID). Parking is free. Tickets are sold at the museum front desk the day of the show.

Museum admission only is $5 for adults (19 and over), $3 for children (5-18 years, 4 and under are free), and $10 for families (up to two adults and children). Museum admission is free for members of Friends of the Museum, and UNL faculty, staff and students with valid ID. The museum's regular hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday-Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursdays, and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sundays.
