Lincoln, Neb., January 29th, 2010 —

The University Program Council at University of Nebraska-Lincoln will sponsor the event, "Debate On Pornography: Pro vs. Con" with Ron Jeremy and Susan G. Cole at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 in the Centennial Room of the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St. [map].

Jeremy is one of the most well-known actors in the pornography industry. Appearing in more than 2,000 films, Jeremy has established quite a name for himself. Aside from pornography, Ron has appeared in Hollywood films such as "The Boondock Saints" and "54" and was a reality-television celebrity on VH1's "The Surreal Life."

As an author, a playwright, and an activist, Cole has kept busy in the queer community. She was a member of the first lesbian political organization in Toronto, the Lesbian Organization of Toronto. Cole has been strongly against the pornography industry and has written books such as "Power Surge: Sex, Violence, and Pornography," and "Pornography and the Sex Crisis."

The "Debate on Pornography: Pro vs. Con," from Wolfman Productions, has been touring college campuses for years. The pornography world is a growing industry and has long had people questioning: "Is it degrading to women, or empowering?"

This event is free for UNL students with a valid N-Card and $3 for the public, faculty and staff.

The University Program Council is a volunteer student organization designed to address the co-curricular, social, recreational, cultural, and educational needs of the campus. It acts as the executive body responsible for the implementation of programs and activities funded by University Programs and Facilities Fees.
