Japan Festival at UNL will feature lecture, film, karaoke

Lincoln, Neb., March 2nd, 2010 —

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host a Japan Festival from 3:30-9 p.m. March 4 in the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St., and the Ross Media Arts Center, 313 N. 13th St.

The festival is sponsored by UNL's Japanese program and the Consulate General of Japan-Chicago. Following is a schedule of events.

* 3:30-4 p.m. -- "Despair or Last Resort?: Japanese Pop Culture and The Rise of New National Identity," a lecture by Ikuho Amano, assistant professor of Japanese at UNL, Nebraska Union.

* 4-4:30 p.m. -- Karaoke, Nebraska Union.

* 4:45-5:30 p.m. -- Cosplay contest, Nebraska Union.

* 7 p.m. -- Screening of Japanese film, "Train Man," Ross Media Arts Center.

All events are free and open to the public.
