The Sheldon Friends of Chamber Music's season continues Oct. 24 with the Cassatt Quartet and Nicole Johnson in the Sheldon Museum of Art's Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium. The concert begins at 3 p.m.
The award-winning Cassatt Quartet has established relationships with living composers over its 25-year history. Cellist Nicole Johnson is the daughter of Lincoln native Mark Johnson, who is the retired cellist of the Vermeer Quartet.
The Cassatt Quartet will perform an all-American program, featuring the "lost" quartet by Howard Hansen of 1924, the Barbet String Quartet, the Daniel Godfrey String Quartet No. 2 and the Gabriela Frank: Quijotadas for String Quartet.
The concerts take place in the Sheldon Museum of Art's Abbott Auditorium. The museum is located at 12th and R Streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln city campus. Pre-performance lectures explore the concert content for the audience, and post-performance receptions offer wine, food and conversation with the musicians. The lecture on Oct. 24 begins at 2:30 p.m.
