14 UNL students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa

Lincoln, Neb., December 22nd, 2010 —

Fourteen University of Nebraska-Lincoln students were initiated into membership in Phi Beta Kappa this month.

Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest academic honor society, recognizing and encouraging a commitment to excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Following is a list of the students who were inducted, including their academic major(s) and their parents' and spouses' names. The students are from the August and December graduating classes.

NEBRASKA

Broken Bow: Carson Vaughan, journalism and English, Jerry and Mary Vaughan.

Colon: Anna E. Hoppe, international studies, Weldon and Paula Hoppe.

Columbus: Rachel Chin, international studies and international business, Joseph and Robbin Chin.

Grand Island: Erika Anschutz, psychology, Steve and Jurita Anschutz of Hamilton, Ohio; Nicole Starkey, political science, economics and international studies, Jerry and Sharon Starkey.

Lincoln: Quinn McCreight, international studies and Spanish, Paul and Rande McCreight; Katrina M. Poppert, psychology and German, Glenn and Jean Poppert; Amy Proskovec, psychology, Gary and Linda Proskovec; Micah Smith, English and Russian, Kenneth Sr. and Marti Smith; Elizabeth Weishahn, political science and history, Doug and Martha Weishahn.

Omaha: Lindy Marie Loneman, psychology and secondary education, William and Debbie Loneman; Jason Vitek, biochemistry and biological sciences, James and Laura Vitek.
