Perlman to deliver State of University address Sept. 1

     Chancellor Harvey Perlman will deliver his 12th State of the University annual address to faculty, staff, students and interested visitors at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on Sept. 1. The address begins at 11 a.m. at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St. on the UNL City Campus.

     The speech traditionally outlines university priorities for the coming year while addressing major accomplishments during the previous academic year. In keeping with ongoing discussions about Nebraska entering the Big Ten Conference, the theme for the event is "Think Big."

     Faculty and staff being honored for service "milestones" will be recognized during the annual employee service award recognition program beginning at 10:30 a.m., and a picnic will follow the 11 a.m. address. Streets will be closed for the picnic on 12th Street between Q and R streets and R Street between 12th and 13th streets.

     The speech will be streamed live on the web at www.unl.edu and televised on NebSat 105, Campus Channel 4, Lincoln Cable Channel 21 and KRNU Radio (90.3 FM).

     Shuttles (Bus 24) from East Campus to the Lied Center will run from Burr-Fedde, Ag Hall, Animal Science and the College of Law, returning from the Nebraska Union bus stop on the south side of R Street.
